What is RiseUpWA?

RiseUpWA is a nonprofit organization formed February 2020. Our mission is to inform, recruit, train and equip advocates. 


The Strike for School Choice Rally, on Sept. 7th will kick off the next big push! 


RiseUpWa is assisting the efforts for the School Choice BILL that will be brought to committee very soon. We are calling it the "Follow the Backpack Bill".


Why RiseUpWA?


RiseUpWA is focusing on School Choice.

Please support us at all events. NUMBERS MATTER! Bring your whole family. 


RiseUpWa lobbied a successful bill just after the first year of its founding. It has also hosted several rallies and recruited hundreds of new advocates. We are geared up and ready to move forward, fighting for Parental Rights and School Choice!


Given the current education crisis, we have pivoted to educate and recruit people to lobby legislation that will help restore individual and parental rights.


How to get involved with RiseUpWA?


Go to RiseUpWA.org and sign up to join the effort. If you do not have time, then please consider making a donation or purchasing  some cool merch to push out our messaging.

Joe Kent ~ Bio

Melanie Gabriel


Melanie Gabriel is a incoming Freshman in Washington. She is a member of Girl Scouts of the United States and the proud recipient of the Bronze and Silver award. She has dedicated countless hours of service to her commute. Which led her to be award the Service Above Self Educational Excellence Award by the Lake Oswego Rotary Club at the age of 9 and to this day is still the youngest recipient. In December of 2020 she cofounded Open Schools USA and led national protest to Open Schools. When schools begin to open she founded Clark County Parents for Education Reform.

Melanie pushed so hard in her district that her board will not respond to emails or have meetings with her. She has so speak with the superintendent, district lawyer. In August of 21 She cofounded For The Kids Washington with Kylee Walker. On August 18th they held a statewide unmask our kids protest with over 140 districts participating. She has already decided on her plans for her future which included a political career and run for President in 2044.

Attorney Jeff E. Jared


Jeff E. Jared is a lifelong Kirkland WA resident (across the lake from Seattle) and has been an attorney for 25 years. He writes from a free market, law & economics--and constitutional perspective--combining fiscal conservatism with social tolerance and individual rights.


He is a graduate of Harvard University (1988--philosophy) and University of California/Hastings School of Law (1994). Jeff is an avid traveler, having been to 80 countries and all 50 states. He enjoys backgammon, and good food, drink and conversation.

Mr. Jared is also author of the 2020 online book: “American Vector: Road Tripping in the Age of Covid.”
